What is the timeframe for the Websense School Agreement?

The Ministry of Education has an agreement with Websense through to 30 June 2015.

What schools are covered by the Agreement?

State and state-integrated schools are covered by the agreement. 

What software is included in the Agreement?

The products available are as follows:

  1. Websense Web Security Gateway
  2. Email Security Gateway
  3. Cloud e-mail security
  4. Triton support console

Websense Web Security Gateway provides an on-premise web filtering service, with over 100 security and filtering categories, hundreds of web application and protocol controls, and reporting with customization and role-based access. http://www.websense.com/content/web-security-gateway-features.aspx

You have the choice of two Websense Email Security Solutions.

Triton support console provides administration tools to support your schools' web and email security management. For more information see the Websense site: http://www.websense.com/content/websense-triton-security-products.aspx 

How do I register to renew and upgrade my schools existing licensing?

You do not need to take any action to continue using your current Websense software.

If you wish to upgrade to the latest version, contact the Websense team:

If you register on the customer portal http://www.mywebsense.com, you will be able to update your versions and get access to other Websense resources, such as product demos, evaluations, documentation, white papers, videos and knowledge-base articles. You will need your current subscription key number and school email address to create an account. 

Who will be providing technical support for schools?

Websense provides ongoing technical support for schools.  You can contact the NZ school support team directly: 

Schools have unlimited 24x7 access to the 'eSupport Self-Service Websense Knowledge-base' at http://www.websense.com/content/support.aspx and 'MyWebsense' support forums on http://community.websense.com/forums.  

You can access technical support engineers during normal business hours Monday to Friday (Australian Eastern Standard Time).  Phone 0800 443 264.  You will need to enter the account number 28499381.  Support use is logged and reported to the Ministry: 'reasonable use' limits apply.
