Microsoft Office for Mac Standard 2011 FAQs

What type of license is the Ministry providing for my Apple TELA laptop?

The Ministry has purchased Microsoft Office for Mac Standard 2011 licenses for exclusive use on TELA Apple laptops only. These licences remain under the ownership of the Ministry.

Does this also apply to the Microsoft New Zealand Schools Agreement?

No. This software is provided by the Ministry of Education under another type of agreement administered by Datacom.

Can I install the Office for Mac Standard 2011 license on other, non-TELA devices?

No, the Ministry’s purchase agreement covers one license for each TELA Apple laptop device supplied to your school.

Who is funding the cost of the software license? What happens at the end of my lease?

The Ministry of Education is covering the cost of Microsoft Office for Mac Standard 2011 for all TELA Apple laptops, for the duration of the lease period. The Ministry retains ownership of the license, and if a TELA laptop is not returned at the end of the lease period (for example if the school purchases the laptop), the software must be removed.

Do I have to install the software?

Newly shipped TELA Apple laptops will be pre-loaded with Microsoft Office for Mac Standard 2011. Schools with existing leased TELA Apple laptops will need to install the software on each laptop, using the installation disc. To purchase the installation disc at a cost of $56 including freight, please email nzschool@datacom.co.nz (allow up to 7 working days for delivery).

Do I need license keys?

No. The Ministry’s version of Office for Mac Standard 2011 does not require license keys or activation.
